What should I know about Star Citizen?

Star Citizen is an in-development massively multiplayer online game in alpha stage. It’s actually in active development by CIG (Cloud Imperium Games) with a new release approximately each 3 months and is also a crowdfunding project.

What does this mean?

You are a backer

When you give money using the Star Citizen pledge store you are donating funds for the development, you are not buying something. As a thank you, they give you a product (mostly ships) that may not yet be implemented or in an intermediate stage of development. So carefully read all the disclaimers.

Bugs and limitations

The game has bugs! The great developers teams of Star Citizen are constantly working to solve them, but this require time. It’s also important to know that at this stage of development there is only one solar sistem, but, with its four planets, moons, asteroids belts and space stations, you won’t be short of places to explore.

You are a tester

When you play Star Citizen you are also a tester. You can report bugs to CIG via the Issue Council (all the references below in the footer).

Okay, I get it, what else?

Remember, Game Package!

To start to play Star Citizen, you only need a Game Package. Do not buy standalone ships or other stuff.

Also, the majority of the ships are available for in-game purchase, so do not buy the most expensive stuff with real money (upgrades are always available).

Squadron 42

Squadron 42 is a standanlone game based on the Star Citizen universe. It’s not ready yet and, like Star Citizen, it’s under active development. At the Star Citizen Pledge Store it’s currently no longer possible to pledge for it, except for special cases.

Why pledge for ships?

The advantage of donating for ships is that you can fly it (if already developed) after only some minutes from the transaction and you will keep them also when the game will be released. In fact, CIG has declared that they will perform a reset of each account after the game release. You will be able to retain only the items pledged from the Pledge Store.

Hope that all this information can be helpful for you to decide. We are trying to keep them always up to date, but a double-check with the Star Citizen website is always recommended.

What is Persal.org?

Despite all the cons, Star Citizen allows for great fun and many types of gameplay experience. Inside the game, citizens can team up to form organizations.

So, Persal.org is a fictitious organization in Star Citizen. Our goal is to build teams to fly all the cap ships we manage to acquire and, of course, to have fun playing together!

Our goals at a glance:

Fun

Having fun together!

Goals

Reach our goals (and revenue) more easily. Depending on the activity and the agreements, the profit will be shared among the participants of the activity.

Science

In the future, expanding our areas of interest to include research and science.

So, what should I do?

Persal.org, the story so far

In the year 2321, Earth was at the cusp of a new era of interstellar exploration. The advancements in technology and the yearning for discovery had sparked the imagination of many, like Nick Croshaw, who a few years earlier, became the first man to navigate in another solar system, discovering and harnessing the first jump point. Among these dreamers was Dr. Enrico Pavel Jansen, a visionary scientist and explorer who believed that the mysteries of the universe were waiting to be unveiled.

Fueled by his passion for knowledge and adventure, Dr. Enrico Pavel Jansen founded Persal.org, an organization dedicated to exploring the galaxy and conducting scientific research beyond the boundaries of Earth. With a small team of like-minded individuals, he set out to customize and improve state-of-the-art exploration starships, available at the time, capable of traversing vast distances.

In the early years, Persal.org remained a modest company, making minor breakthroughs in scientific research and gathering valuable data from the uncharted territories they ventured into. However, the turning point for the organization came in 2843 when personal contacts led to the acquisition of the Argonautica, an Anvil Carrack ship with advanced exploration capabilities.

With the Argonautica at their disposal, Persal.org‘s exploration efforts became a pillar of their mission, and they made significant discoveries throughout their galactic journeys. However, in 2884, while in the orbit of the planet Crion (Caliban II), disaster struck when the ship found itself under attack by the Vanduul, in their attempt to loot the UEE outpost. Only through the timely intervention of the 88th UEE Navy Logistic Support Squadron did they narrowly escape, but not without suffering heavy damage to the Argonautica.

This harrowing encounter opened the eyes of Persal.org to the dangers lurking in the galaxy. Realizing that exploration could not be their sole focus, the organization decided to expand its fleet and take on considerable debt to bolster their logistics and support capabilities. The addition of various ships allowed them to navigate more efficiently through treacherous regions and ensure their safety during future expeditions.

Over the years, Persal.org‘s mining and salvage operations thrived, providing a stable income to support their exploration and scientific endeavors. They built a reputation for successfully completing difficult jobs and handling hazardous situations. As their resources grew, they expanded their scientific research and delved deeper into the mysteries of the cosmos.

Finally, after decades of hard work and persistence, Persal.org found itself in a position of financial stability. They could now focus on their passion for exploration and scientific inquiry without neglecting the security of their team. Their mobile headquarters, the Wanderer, is a self-sustaining flying fortress, capable of supporting the crew during long expeditions and serving as a trading outpost to foster diplomatic relationships with Banu and Xi’an.

Today, Persal.org, due to its expanded activities, stands as a shining beacon for all freelancers that want to join it.
The legacy of Dr. Enrico Pavel Jansen lives on through the organisation, which continues to push the boundaries of scientific exploration and understanding while bringing profit to all its members … even if they do not always share its goals.
